Norman Decker, MD

Dr. Norman Decker is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst specializing in the treatment of patients suffering from the consequences of psychological trauma such as childhood trauma, abuse, combat, rape and torture. He also has considerable experience helping patients and families suffering from the emotional consequences of physical illness, particularly cancer.

Dr. Decker is co-founder and on the faculty of the Houston-Galveston Trauma Institute and a clinical full professor of psychiatry at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry of the Baylor College of Medicine. He is a past president of the Houston Psychiatric Society and has made numerous scientific presentations, both locally and nationally.

Dr. Decker is a graduate of the Mount Sinai Hospital psychiatric residency program and the New York Psychoanalytic Institute’s psychoanalytic training program. He received both his undergraduate and medical education at Columbia University.

Jean Goodwin, MD, MPH

Jean Goodwin is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst specializing in the treatment of patients suffering from the consequences of sexual abuse, incest and family violence. Board certified in both general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, Dr. Goodwin is an accomplished author of more than 90 published articles and book chapters in her areas of expertise.

A co-founder of the Houston Galveston Trauma Institute, Dr. Goodwin is currently a faculty member of the Houston Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute and Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She is a fellow in both the International Society for the Study of Dissociation and the America Psychiatric Association and has won several prestigious awards and honors for her impressive body of work.

Dr. Goodwin received her BA from Radcliffe College, her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and her Masters in Public Health, Epidemiology from the UCLA School of Public Health. She completed post-graduate training at Georgetown University Hospital, the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis and the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute.

Rosalie Hyde, LCSW

Executive director/clinical director Rosalie Hyde is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed marriage and family therapist in practice over 25 years, and voluntary faculty of Baylor College of Medicine. As a traumatologist, she has expertise in the treatment of a wide range of trauma-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders, affective disorders, somatization disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse and personality disorders. She is a board-approved supervisor for social workers in Texas seeking independent licensure.

Rosalie has developed a comprehensive training program providing continuing education credits for clinicians on the diagnosis and treatment of trauma-related problems. She has identified the need for psycho-education of traumatized people and their families and developed a 10-week program for survivors and their partners. In addition to her presentations at regional and national conferences, Rosalie has published in Dissociation, the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, and has trained professionals in social service agencies, psychiatric hospitals, women’s shelters, academic and professional development settings.

Through her work as a co-founder and faculty member of HGTI, she has expanded her role as a trainer to serve mental health professionals and other front-line workers working with traumatized people. She has a special interest in the vicarious trauma to the worker, and in providing support and training to alleviate the impact of secondary trauma.

Rosalie’s passionate commitment to those affected by war and genocide around the world is most recently evidenced by her work with refugee women and workers. She is certified by the Harvard Refugee Trauma Global Mental Health Certificate Program, and acts as supervisor in the University of Houston Immigration Clinic field placement for social work graduate students. This is a pioneering program to provide psycho-social support to those seeking asylum from international trauma.

Naomi Rosborough, LPC, LMFT

Naomi Rosborough is a licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist and certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor. In addition to her interest and expertise in the treatment of personality disorders and addictions, she has received intensive training in the area of psychological trauma. Today, she trains professionals to recognize and offer appropriate treatment to patients dealing with overwhelming life experiences.

A psychotherapist in private practice for over 30 years, Naomi is a co-founder of the Houston-Galveston Trauma Institute. For the last 10 years, she has been involved in the training of a wide range of mental health professionals. She has presented at local and statewide conferences and has been published in the journal Dissociation.

Throughout her career, Naomi has been actively involved in community organizations. She has served on the board of the A.K. Rice Institute and the Houston Group Psychotherapy Society. She is a trained hospice volunteer, and for over 20 years, provided clinical support to the Montrose Counseling Center. She has been recognized as a Volunteer of the Year of the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center, and has volunteered for the Physicians for Human Rights, which provides support to asylum seekers. Naomi recently furthered her training to include combat trauma.

Naomi earned both her BA and MA in Psychology from Antioch University and recently received an appointment to the volunteer faculty of Baylor College of Medicine.
